June trial set for alleged cocaine-ring leader

URBANA — A June trial estimated to last five days has been set for a Paxton man charged in federal court with allegedly overseeing a cocaine-trafficking ring.

On Friday in U.S. District Court in Urbana, the attorney representing Eddi S. “Migo” Ramirez, 30, of Paxton, requested a trial date be set.

Jobless rates rise in Ford, Iroquois counties

Ford County’s unemployment rate climbed to 10 percent in January, while Iroquois County’s grew to 10.2 percent, the Illinois Department of Employment Security reported Thursday.

Ford County’s rate was up from 8.5 percent the month prior; Iroquois County’s rate was up from 8.3 percent.

Hospital CEO: Indiana home health not a priority

WATSEKA — Iroquois Memorial Hospital’s new chief executive officer said he does not consider the expansion of home-health services into two rural counties in western Indiana a priority, even though two of the hospital’s doctors broached the need last summer to provide the service across the state line.
