Rankin sells property to trustee, resident

RANKIN — The village board voted to sell three vacant lots on Main Street — including two to board member Roxanne Hasting — during Thursday’s meeting.

Village Clerk Minette Warren said Hasting had the highest bids, for $150 for one of the lots, which Warren referred to as Lot 18, and $350 for another, Lot 17. Beverly Overbey had the winning bid of $850 for the third lot, Lot 16.

Both Hasting and Overbey own property adjacent to the vacant lots, which are part of a property that was acquired by the village. A dilapidated home on the property was recently torn down.

The board had sought bids in September for Lots 16 and 17, but it did not seek bids until October for Lot 18 because the village had been unaware the third lot existed until after September’s meeting.
