Company offers to donate land to village of Rankin

RANKIN — Wells Fargo has offered to donate to the village a residential property the mortgage company has acquired, Village Board President Aaron Warren said.

The board discussed the offer at last Thursday’s monthly meeting, after Wells Fargo contacted the village about the possibility of donating the property on Iroquois Street. Further discussion and possible action is expected in February, Warren said.

“I’m going to take a look at it first to see if (the home on the property) is usable or if it needs to be knocked down,” Warren said.

In other business, Police Chief Robert Yates presented a proposed ordinance for consideration that would outline various restrictions for part-time police officers. The ordinance is mandated by the state. A public hearing on the ordinance will take place at 5:50 p.m. Feb. 7.
