Barickman to serve as Republican spokesman for Senate committee

SPRINGFIELD — State Sen. Jason Barickman, R-Bloomington, has been selected to be the ranking Republican member on the State Government and Veterans Affairs Committee, which focuses on legislation concerning state agencies and the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs in particular. He is also serving on the Appropriations II, Education, Financial Institutions and Judiciary committees.

“It is a privilege to serve as the Republican spokesperson on the State Government and Veterans Affairs committee. Having served in the Illinois National Guard I am thrilled to represent the interests of veterans and ensure that the laws passed work on their behalf,” Barickman said.

“In addition, this committee’s focus on the operation of state government is critically important during these challenging times. As the governor’s office continues to focus on facility closures, this will put me a strong position to advocate on behalf of the Pontiac Correctional Center and other state facilities in the 53rd District.”

Barickman also announced the opening of his new district offices in Bloomington and in Springfield. He will also keep his office in Pontiac.
