Hands of Christ Food Pantry expands its hours

PAXTON — The Hands of Christ Food Pantry has expanded its operating hours, effective this month, to meet the needs of all qualified residents in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda school district.

The pantry will be open from 9-11 a.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month and from 4-6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

The food pantry, located at The Upper Room Bible Church, 425 W. Orleans St., has been in operation for about a year. The pantry currently serves about 40 families each month for a total of about 100 residents.

It receives its primary support from local churches, including the Paxton United Methodist Church as its primary sponsor. The pantry also receives funds and food donations from individuals.

Anyone wanting to make a donation can call Don Ward, coordinator, at 386-2635 for more information.
