Multi-state earthquake drill set for Thursday

CHICAGO — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and partnering agencies and organizations are encouraging the public to participate in this year’s Great Central U.S. Shakeout earthquake drill on Thursday, Feb. 7.

The multi-state ShakeOut drill, scheduled for 10:15 a.m. CST, is designed to help raise awareness to the earthquake risks faced by people living the Midwest. The drill also provides an opportunity to practice three recommended protective steps when an earthquake begins: “Drop to the ground, take cover and hold on until the shaking stops.”
