Robert A. Bergman

RANTOUL — Robert A. Bergman, 70, of Rantoul, brother of a Paxton resident, died on the morning of Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the American Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Rantoul. The Rev. Matt Bahnfleth will officiate. Burial will follow at Beckman Cemetery, Thomasboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul.

Mr. Bergman was born March 25, 1947, in Champaign, a son of Henry and Helen (Freese) Bergman. He married Lois Suits on May 19, 1973, at the American Lutheran Church in Rantoul. She survives.

Also surviving are four brothers, Richard (Diane) Bergman of Fisher, Kevin (Linda) Bergman of Dewey, Keith Bergman of Paxton and David (Dee) Bergman of Dewey; a sister, Rhonda (Rick) Roesch of Fisher; a sister-in-law, Carol (Everett) Johnson of Urbana; two brothers-in-law, Lowell (Micki) Suits of St. Joseph and Mitchell (Laura) Suits of Rantoul; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Ben; and several aunts and uncles.

Mr. Bergman was a graduate of Fisher High School. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy, where he was on board the USS Albany working in communications. He retired from Super-Valu after 35 years of service.

Mr. Bergman was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Rantoul. He loved to hunt and fish and spent many wonderful hours working on the farm.
