Donna Wurmnest

SIBLEY — Donna Wurmnest, 97, of Sibley, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Heritage Health in Gibson City.

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Sibley.

Mrs. Wurmnest was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Sibley, a daughter of Harry and Anna Blum Koehler. She married Clarence Wurmnest on Feb. 14, 1946, in Sibley. He died Oct. 16, 1994.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Wurmnest of Mariposa, Calif., and Charles (Laney) Wurmnest of Eureka Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Donita Bowman of Lafayette, Ind., and Tresita DeJuilio of Crescent City, Calif.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean (William) Arends of Melvin.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bud.

Mrs. Wurmnest attended Eureka College, then graduated from the University of Illinois. She was a home economics teacher in Flanagan and then Forrest. She was a lab technician at Eureka-Williams in Bloomington and then a bacteriologist at Kraft in Champaign.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Heritage Health in Gibson City.
