Larry Allen Pankey

GILMAN — Larry Allen Pankey, 66, a lifelong resident of Gilman, died from a sudden illness at 2:34 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, followed by graveside services at the Wenger Green Ridge Cemetery. The Rev. Pete Hinrich will be officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.

Mr. Pankey was born Feb. 5, 1952, in Watseka to Aulcy and Doris June (Johnson) Pankey. His childhood was spent in Gilman, and he graduated from Gilman High School in 1970. He married Rebecca Rae “Becky” Shive on Nov. 20, 1971, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jason (Megan) Pankey of Gilman and Jeremy (Trixie) Pankey of Onarga; five grandchildren, Ty, Jace and Tessa, all of Onarga, and Micah and Rhett, both of Gilman; a niece; a nephew; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank.

Mr. Pankey was of the Lutheran faith. He had worked at A.O. Smith and was a maintenance supervisor at Nexus in Manteno and Onarga and most recently retired as maintenance supervisor for Iroquois County. He was an avid hunter. His life was his family.
