Marilyn Rae Clark

RANTOUL — Marilyn Rae Clark, 77, of Rantoul, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2018, at Heartland Healthcare in Champaign.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton, with the Rev. Rachel Stockle officiating.  Burial will follow in Danville National Cemetery, Danville.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Baier Family Funeral Services in Paxton.

Mrs. Clark was born June 20, 1940, in Aurora, the daughter of Raymond Monroe and Mary Roush Lampson. She married John Edward Clark on Feb. 24, 1990, at the American Lutheran Church in Rantoul. He survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Marvin (Doreen) Scherbring of Rantoul, Tom (Sherri) Scherbring of Loda, Chuck Scherbring of St. Charles, Mo., and Jim Scherbring of Rantoul; two step-daughters, Jackie (Don) Hall of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tracy (Larry) Rix of Rantoul; one step-son, Christopher Sprunger of El Paso, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Richy (Katrina) Finney,  Erica (Charles) Weyhenmeyer, Melissa (Dwayne) Cooper, Justin (Emily) Scherbring, Heather (Chase) Hammond, Taylor Scherbring, Tony Scherbring, Nick Scherbring, Breona Rix, Justin Rix and Kayla Hall; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Margaret “Peggy” Lampson; and one brother, Purly Wayne Lampson. 

Mrs. Clark spent her childhood in Snyder, Texas, graduating from Snyder High School. She moved to Rantoul in 1974 and worked in housing at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul for many years. She later worked at the Champaign Public Health Department in the vital records department.

Mrs. Clark enjoyed quilting and was an avid NASCAR fan.  Above all else, she loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
