Virginia P. Tobeck

LODA — Virginia P. Tobeck, 79, of Bayles Lake in rural Loda, died at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at her home.

A memorial service was at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 306 E. Lincoln St., Buckley, with the Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial followed in St John’s Cemetery in Buckley. Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tobeck was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Watseka, the daughter of Russell and Verna Henneinke Ward. She married Ronald R. Tobeck on Dec. 13, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buckley. He died Dec. 13, 1983. 

Surviving are two sons, John (Gina) Tobeck of Wylie, Texas, and Jeff (Terri) Tobeck of Lisle; three grandchildren, Ashlie (Andrew) Seely of Batesville, Ark., Tia (Charlie) Prather of Champaign and Mathew Tobeck of Josephine, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Astrid and Augustus Seely; and one sister, Sharon (Ron) Huskins of Highland Village, Texas.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son, James Gregory Tobeck.

Mrs. Tobeck spent her childhood on the Buckley farm and graduated from Buckley High School. She had worked at the Paxton Record and True Value in Rantoul.

Mrs. Tobeck was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buckley. She was a past member of the Loda Lions Club and was a former election judge, and she had helped with various functions for the Loda fire department. She was known for being an avid reader. She enjoyed needlepoint, baking and spending time with her family.
