Richard E. "Rick" Schoolman

ASHKUM — Richard E. “Rick” Schoolman, 80, of Ashkum, brother of a Cissna Park resident, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Faith Place in Danforth.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum, with the Rev. Don Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashkum Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at the church.

Mr. Schoolman was born June 14, 1937, in Clifton, the son of Weert H. and Marie L. Froidcoeur Schoolman. He married Shelby Schuler on June 20, 1959, in Ashkum, and she survives in Ashkum.

Also surviving are two sons, Todd (Beth) Schoolman of Plymouth, Minn., and Chad (Julie) Schoolman of Herscher; six grandchildren, Bradley, Daniel, Joshua, Samantha, Jacob and Kaitlyn; three sisters, Anita Shule of Martinton, Alice (Wayne) Tholen of Bourbonnais and Marianne (Francis) Weber of Cissna Park; one brother, Glenn (Janice) Schoolman of Clifton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one son, Timothy.

Mr. Schoolman was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum, where he was very active. He served in the U.S. Army and had a love for farming.

Memorials may be made to Faith Place in Danforth or Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum.
