Arik Dean Eldert

DANFORTH — Arik Dean Eldert, 41, of Danforth, formerly of Redondo Beach, Calif., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the United Methodist Church in Gilman. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Malcom Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Galesburg. Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.

Mr. Eldert was born July 31, 1977, in Kankakee, the son of William K. “Bill” and Jennefer (Wetherford) Eldert. His childhood was spent in the Gilman, Danforth and Onarga area. He graduated from Iroquois West High School in 1995. He worked in sales and food service in Illinois and California.

Surviving are his mother, Jennefer Eldert of Danforth; a sister, Andrea K. Eldert of Gilman; a brother, Aaron W. (Maralee) Eldert of Remington, Ind.; two nephews, Zane G. Eldert and Kevin Adkins; three nieces, Anna Adkins, Joelle Dieckmann and Megan Click; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, William K. “Bill” Eldert; his grandparents; and uncles Maurice Haptonstall, Maurice Eldert and Ward “Butch” Cruise.

Mr. Eldert was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gilman. He enjoyed living in California for 15 years, “Seinfeld,” cheap-seat entertainment, driving automobiles and walking on the strand in Hermosa Beach. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, good friends, and how much they meant to him.

Memorials may be made to Zane Eldert’s education fund or an organization of the donor’s choice.
