In the another big rivalry matchup Sunday, Gifford-Flatville swept a pair of games from Royal by scores of 8-4 and 2-0. In Game 2, the Gif-Flats limited the Giants to just one hit. The squads each have matching 4-2 records now.
In other action, Watseka improved to 3-3 with a sweep of Colfax (0-6) by scores of 12-3 and 5-2. In Game 1, the Angels busted open a close 5-2 game by scoring a combined seven times in the seventh and eighth innings. In Game 2, Watseka scored three times in the fifth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit.
Central Illinois (3-3) picked up a pair of wins via forfeit against Mattoon, which isn’t playing in the league this season.
