Rantoul/PBL golf roundup — 9/5/12

Rantoul/PBL finished Aug. 28’s seven-team Champaign County Tournament in sixth place with a team score of 357.

Brock Peavler was the team’s low scorer with an 84. Joe Barton shot an 87 while Dylan Harris and Cody Bauman each scored a 93 to round out the scoring.

On Thursday, Rantoul/PBL hosted Monticello and beat the Sages 164-197.

Peavler won medalist honors in the nine-hole event by shooting a 38. Barton had a score of 40 while Harris and Cody Brooks tied with a score of 43 each.

The Rantoul/PBL junior varsity team played against Monticello as well, but lost 207-219.

Vaughn Bruno was Rantoul/PBL’s low scorer with a 55.

On Friday, the Eagles finished 12th in the Danville Invite with a score of 344.

Peavler and Barton each shot an 80 to tie for 16th individually.

Keegan Brooks tied for 60th with a score of 90 while Harris shot a 94 to tie for 76th place.

“We did not perform as well as I hoped as a team,” Rantoul/PBL head coach Travis Flesner said. “Brock did begin playing his first competitive golf this week, and he hope to get everything moving forward for the rest of the season. The players are working hard in practice, and we will continue to improve.”

In an outing at Forsyth's Hickory Point Golf Course yesterday, Rantoul/PBL achieved a 170-179 victory over Champaign Central in Forsyth’s Hickory Point Golf Course.

Peavler won medalist honors with a score of 37.

Dylan Harris shot a 40 while Cody Bauman carded a 44, tying with Central’s Chris Haile and Zack Baumann. Keegan Brooks completed Rantoul/PBL’s score by shooting a 49.

The Eagles will hit the links again today, facing Urbana and Cissna Park in Urbana at 4 p.m.

They will also participate in a two-day tournament in Mattoon, which starts this Friday at 1 p.m. and continues on Saturday at 8 a.m.
