Here's a look at some other area athletes who stood out this past year in sports.

JJ Gardner (football, track and field)
-- The GCMS senior lineman was the anchor in the trenches for a Falcons football team that advanced to the second round of the playoffs, as he earned first-team all-HOIC honors. He also advanced to state in the shot put in the spring.
Dylan Kingren (football, basketball, baseball)
-- The PBL senior was a two-way starter for the Panthers football squad, earning special mention all-SVC recognition. He also was a starter most known for his relentless defense on a 24-win basketball team last winter.
Drew Schrodt (football, basketball, baseball)
-- The PBL sophomore ran for 599 yards and two touchdowns in football, then worked his way into the starting five during basketball season. And he was at his best in baseball, earning first-team all-SVC honors and playing spectacular defense in the outfield.
Gauge Snider (football, basketball)
-- The PBL senior earned first-team all-SVC honors in football, finishing with 364 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He was also a unanimous first-team selection in basketball, averaging 10 points and seven rebounds.
Dakota Zenner (football, basketball, baseball)
-- The PBL senior was a first-team all-SVC selection in football and basketball. In the latter sport, he was the jack of all trades, spending time at point guard and guarding the big men of opponents. His steady play was a major reason the Panthers won the Leader Classic and shared the conference title.
