The Paxton Aquatic Wildcats swim team earned its first win of the season with a 355-165 victory against Watseka on Saturday in Paxton.
Donovan Spinelli and Olivia Frichtl led the way for the Wildcats, earning three wins apiece. In the 15-18 boys’ division, Spinelli was victorious in the 50-meter freestyle (32.47 seconds), the 50 butterfly (45.46) and 50 backstroke (41.69). Competing in the girls’ 11-12 division, Frichtl was a winner in the 50 freestyle (39.03), the 50 breaststroke (49.38) and the 50 butterfly (48.87).
Tyson Snyder, Kellyn Maynard and Sydney Brust were also multiple event winners for Paxton. In the boys’ 13-14 division, Snyder won the 50 freestyle (33.18) and the 50 butterfly (42.25). In the 13-14 girls’ division, Maynard won the 50 freestyle (34.50) and the 50 breaststroke (44.65). In the girls’ 9-10 division, Brust won the 25 breaststroke (26.19) and the 25 backstroke (25.22).
Other winners for the Wildcats were Sierra Thomsen (girls’ 15-18 50 freestyle), Maisy Johnson (girls’ 8 and under 25 breaststroke), Levi Frichtl (boys’ 11-12 50 breaststroke), Alec Stocking (boys’ 15-18 50 breaststroke), Andi Lemley (girls’ 15-18 50 breaststroke), Kirra Lantz (girls’ 9-10 25 butterfly), Caitlynn Riblet (girls’ 13-14 50 butterfly), Kalli Goudy (girls’ 11-12 50 backstroke), Nick Harper (boys’ 11-12 50 backstroke), Bethany Knight (girls’ 13-14 50 backstroke), Matthew Harper (boys’ 13-14 50 backstroke) and Ardi Huseini (girls’ 15-18 50 backstroke).
The Wildcats also won 16 relays. They hosted Hoopeston Area in a meet Monday night and Gibson City in a meet on Tuesday night. Paxton also competes at Milford on Saturday at 9 a.m.
