SVC looks to add additional school to conference

GILMAN -- Members of the Sangamon Valley Conference, plus newly-accepted school Dwight, met Wednesday in Gilman.

They are looking to extend an invitation to Gardner-South Wilmington. If the school accepts the invitation, it will join the SVC along with Dwight in 2014-15.

Gardner-South Wilmington is currently in a co-op with Dwight in several sports, including football.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda athletic director John Overstreet said the SVC would like to increase its number of schools to eight.

"We're wanting to get to eight schools to make tournament and regular season scheduling easier for sports other than football," Overstreet said. "We are right now moving forward with developing schedules over the next few weeks, and everything's looking positive."
