Rockin' and Roddin' car show set for June 15 in Rantoul

RANTOUL — The annual Rockin’ and Roddin’ car show, sponsored by Hot Rods & Hooligans Motor Club, is scheduled for 2-10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, in downtown Rantoul.

The event will feature food, music and a street dance, as well as a special giveaway from The Pawn Shop. Trophies will be awarded to the top 20 cars, bikes, etc. Special awards will be given for semis and imports.

Former Paxton resident to hold book signing for "The Girl with a Lotus in Her Hair"

PAXTON — Author Hea Gin Lee Burton of Urbana, formerly of Paxton, will hold a meet-and-greet and book signing at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20, for her recently published autobiographical novel, “The Girl with a Lotus in Her Hair: A Korean War Bride’s Story of Courage, Love and Survival.”

The event will be held at Hudson Drug & Hallmark Shop, 108 N. Market St., Paxton.

Rules of Road review course offered April 18 in Paxton

PAXTON — A free Rules of the Road review course is being offered by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 18, at the Paxton Civic Center, 601 S. Fall St.

Program for healthcare professionals set for April 17 in Gibson City

GIBSON CITY — A program for healthcare professionals entitled “It’s in Every One of Us” will be held Wednesday, April 17, at the Moyer District Library in Gibson City.

The program, sponsored by Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services, is offered at two different times: 7:30-9 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m.

Youth hunt set for Saturday at Green Acres Sportsman's Club

ROBERTS — A Pheasants Forever Young Guns youth hunt will be held Saturday, April 13, at Green Acres Sportsman’s Club, 1458 N. 1700 East Road, Roberts.

Those interested in participating are asked to email as soon as possible to reserve a scheduled time slot. Time slots are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Blood drive Thursday at Paxton church. An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Father Paul F. Dinan Parish Hall, 150 N. Maple St., Paxton. Unique items — including old Paxton milk bottle — to be sold at Community Sale

PAXTON — As the old cliche goes, one man’s trash is another’s treasure.

Trash or treasure, the annual Paxton Community Sale, scheduled for Saturday, April 6, at Coady Park, promises to make some money off a wide variety of items, according to lead organizer Brad Strebeck of the Paxton Park District.

Draggin' Main to return to Paxton on Saturday

PAXTON — With the high temperature hovering around 50 degrees in the forecast for Saturday, Debi Chapman-Hermann is not expecting Mother Nature to ruin the annual return of Paxton’s tradition of “Draggin’ Main.”

Not that a little rain or snow could keep people away anyway.

Chamber's quarterly luncheon to feature talk by Relay for Life volunteer

PAXTON — The Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce’s quarterly luncheon, scheduled for noon Wednesday, May 22, will feature a presentation by Craig Loschen of Flipswitch Consulting and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraiser.

The catered lunch will be made and served by the Paxton Woman’s Club.
